More and more car manufacturer want to show, that they can use their expertise to build ebikes too. How did Ford solve this exercise?
Ford tried to build everything inside which could be technically interested. The bike which was announced yesterday on the automotive fair in Frankfurt has aluminium and carbon frame, which just weighs 2.5 kgs. The concept is powered by the a 350W front hub motor with 340 Wh (36V 9.3Ah) Li-Ion battery. The bike is a normal pedelec (besides the from motor size), so the maximum speed with electrical support is 25 km/h the range is up to 85 km – Ford says. The design is really “sexy”, the battery is hided somewhere in the frame.
They don’t use chain for the power transmission, you can see carbon belt drive and the bike has been equipped with the Shimano Alfine 11-speed internal hub. On the handlebar you can see a mobile phone holder. There was a Samsung mobile on the fair on the bicycle; riders will be able to change suspension modes and of course monitor the charge levels of the battery with that.
The bicycle is in concept phase, most probably we will not see it on the roads, but if that change, we will inform you! 🙂
On the last two picture you can see the earlier version; let’s agree that this concept looks far more better! 🙂
